What Sets Us Apart in Quebec City: Specialized Expertise

Our expertise was acquired through university studies in immigration, refugee, and citizenship law. This training is offered by only two Canadian universities.

Most immigration law firms are generalists and handle the most common cases (permanent residence, temporary residence, etc.). Immigration Encima, on the other hand, focuses primarily on complex cases, including asylum and Canadian immigration disputes.

Few immigration law professionals in Quebec City focus on complex cases such as:

  • Asylum claims
  • Deportation and detention
  • Appearances before IRB tribunals
  • Inadmissibility and criminality

Immigration Consultant vs. Lawyer:

What Is The Difference?

Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC)

An RCIC is a professional trained in immigration, refugee, and citizenship law.

  • Training is now offered at the university level within the Faculty of Law, ensuring recognized and up-to-date expertise.

They master the acts, case law, and legal procedures required to handle any type of file:

  • Visas
  • Complex cases (asylum, inadmissibility, deportation, criminality, etc.).

Highlight: Did You Know?

An RCIC-IRB can legally defend you before the tribunals of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB):

  • Immigration Division: Inadmissibility and detention
  • Immigration Appeal Division: Appeals of decisions
  • Refugee Protection Division: Refugee status claims, loss of asylum
  • Refugee Appeal Division: Review of RPD decisions

Immigration Lawyer

Lawyers can also prepare immigration applications (permanent residence, sponsorship, asylum, etc.). However, not all lawyers have acquired specialized academic training in immigration law, or simply choose not to practice in this specific field.

In contrast to consultants, lawyers can represent clients before higher courts in the judicial system, which are often the final recourse for an immigrant. This includes, for example, a judicial review before the Federal Court. Notably, both consultants and lawyers must be accredited by a professional regulatory body.

It is often said that immigration consultants and lawyers have complementary roles and can work hand in hand. This collaboration can make all the difference in a case! If your file requires the expertise of an immigration lawyer, we will refer you to one of the lawyers we work closely with.

Specialist in Immigration Criminality

We stand out for our approach to complex and demanding cases, such as inadmissibility or entry bans in Canada. Because these situations are rare and highly technical, it is essential to adopt a rigorous and personalized strategy to maximize the chances of success. We provide guidance to assess your situation and represent you in matters related to inadmissibility at any stage—whether before, during, or after an immigration application. We also assist in cases involving status loss, deportation, or appearances before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).

This expertise is crucial for handling complex legal matters, such as appeals before a tribunal or cases involving the loss of permanent residency in Canada. We also work proactively to anticipate potential immigration obstacles, such as inadmissibility to an asylum claim. At Immigration Encima, this diligence is applied through the support of a consultant regulated by the ICCRC.

Our know-how also extends to temporary residence applications for those wishing to work or study despite prior issues. We handle rehabilitation and temporary permits with meticulous precision.

Our mission is to make Canadian immigration law more understandable and accessible. We strive to remove the barriers that prevent you from entering or remaining in Canada, even in the face of an entry ban.

Your immigration consultant in Québec conducts a thorough review of your file and advocates for your interests.
